NVQ Level 4 - Occupational Health & Safety Practice

The NVQ Level 4 in Occupational Health and Safety has been developed for candidates working in the general area of health and safety, those managing a health and safety function and managers having a significant responsibility for safety.

It is suitable for anyone wishing to progress from the UCD Certificate (or equivalent) using a competence based route. Level 4 NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety Practice is a thirteen-unit qualification.

Achievement of the NVQ Level 4 plus an IOSH IPD assessment can lead to membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health at graduate level (Grad IOSH).

An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) is a qualification that recognises someone's competence (the skills, knowledge and understanding they have) in a work situation. NVQs are based on standards (national occupational standards). These standards describe the level and breadth of performance that is expected of anyone working in the sector that the standards cover.

City & Guilds offer more than 500 qualifications across all industry sectors - from animal care to engineering, from hairdressing to motor vehicle maintenance and from retail to youth work. They offer qualfications from entry level - for complete beginners to senior awards - equivalent to post graduate qualifications, so whatever your interests and whatever your experience, the're bound to have something for you. There's a range of ways to learn as well - whether its a workplace NVQ, an exam-based college course - or something in between.
